Over 670,000 small white flags in rows around the Washington memorial call people to think of Arlington Cemetery. Created by the artist Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg the expansive field of flags will be on display from September 17th – October 3rd, 2021 in Washington D.C.
People who have lost a loved one can either attend the memorial and write their family members’ names and a note on a flag or go to inamericaflags.org.
Each day there will be a performer as there was the night I visited – opera singer Christian Simmons sang spirituals. Christian is a Cafritz Young Artist at the National Opera in Washington DC.
