I’m on with photojournalist Michael Nigro, he’s covered nearly every major protest or rally you can think of – from Standing Rock to Charlottesville to… and here’s specifically why we’re having him on this week – the Extinction Rebellion protests in New York City where he was arrested.
This isn’t the first time Michael has been arrested while working as a photojournalist but as he explains it might be one of the scariest.
We chat about the importance of official press passes but also why they’re extremely problematic, getting arrested as a journalist and how the last two years have seen a real change in the dangers of working as a photojournalist.
You can find his work on his instagram @nigrotime and at Truthdig which is where he regularly publishes his work.
